If you’re bothered by flaws in your smile then veneers could be the solution. These thin shells of material are shaped and coloured to look just like the natural surface of a tooth.

  • Discoloured
  • Crooked
  • Gapped
  • Cracked
  • Uneven
  • Misshapen

Types of Veneers

Composite veneers

One of the most affordable and easiest to apply are composite veneers. They can be applied in one dental visit and are normally made from resin or plastic. Patients can expect them to last for around 7 years during which time any damage can usually be repaired.

The procedure involves applying several layers of composite resin to the affected tooth or teeth. The resin is carefully moulded and shaped, with a curing light used between each layer to harden it, until the desired shape and length is achieved.

They are a great option for patients wanting quick affordable veneers, but the downside is that they can easily chip, break, and stain. Our dentists recommend them mostly for minor tooth chips or stains.

Porcelain veneers
Porcelain veneers are very fine porcelain shells that are bonded to the front of your teeth to create an attractive beautiful smile. Our dentists prefer them because they are more durable and last longer. Furthermore, because they are designed from digital impressions, greater accuracy is achieved.

When considering porcelain veneers, patients should know that in most cases a thin layer of enamel has to be removed from the teeth to accommodate the porcelain veneers, and this is irreversible.

Once the teeth are prepared, a digital impression is taken and shared with the CEREC software which designs your custom veneers. These are then milled onsite and ready to be fitted at the same visit. Our dentist will check the fit and bite and make sure that you’re happy with the results before bonding them permanently to your teeth.

Porcelain veneers are not permanent and will eventually need to be replaced. However, with care, they can last for up to 20 years, which makes them a great investment in your smile.

Note – Any surgical or invasive procedure carries risks. Before proceeding, you should seek a second opinion from an appropriately qualified health practitioner.
